With a 3.8 mm diameter it is thinner than regular CAT6 patch cords, reducing cable bulk and improving airflow in server racks and network cabinets. The cable supports standard CAT6 performance while using 28 AWG conductors, which increases attenuation at higher frequencies compared with 22–26 AWG wires.
