## Long description

The Aptel Casström Army Fire Steel with a curly birch handle is an essential outdoor tool designed for survival, camping, and bushcraft enthusiasts. Featuring a durable magnesium rod and an ergonomic wooden handle, it combines traditional aesthetics with practical utility, ensuring a secure and comfortable grip during every use.
Advantages
This fire steel offers exceptional durability and longevity, capable of producing thousands of strikes for reliable long-term use in the wilderness. The ergonomic handle made from curly birch provides a comfortable and secure grip, even when your hands are cold or wet. Its weather-resistant design ensures that it functions dependably regardless of rain, wind, or low temperatures, making it a dependable survival tool when traditional matches or lighters fail.
Suitable for
Starting campfires during outdoor camping trips
Igniting emergency survival fires in harsh weather
Lighting portable backpacking stoves and cooking equipment
Bushcraft and wilderness survival training
When it may not be suitable
This fire steel may not be ideal for individuals who lack basic fire-starting skills or prefer automated push-button ignition methods for stoves. It is also less suited for indoor domestic use where matches or electronic lighters are more practical and convenient.
Key specifications
Material: Durable magnesium rod
Handle material: Curly birch wood
Weather resistance: Functions in rain, wind, and cold
Application: Outdoor survival, camping, and bushcraft
How to use
To use the fire steel effectively, prepare your tinder such as dry grass, bark, or specialized fire-starting material. Hold the fire starter firmly by the curly birch handle and place the tip of the rod close to your tinder. Use a suitable striker or the back of a knife blade to scrape firmly down the length of the magnesium rod at a sharp angle. This action will generate a shower of hot sparks directed straight into your tinder pile, igniting your fire quickly.
What to consider before purchase
Ensure you have a compatible striker or knife blade, as a striker may need to be sourced separately depending on your kit.
Familiarize yourself with basic friction and spark-based fire-starting techniques before heading into the wilderness.
Consider your intended outdoor activities to ensure a manual fire starter aligns with your survival or camping needs.
Always use fire starters in a safe, controlled environment, clear away surrounding dry brush to prevent accidental wildfires, and ensure proper fire safety equipment is nearby during outdoor activities.
