## Long description

The Basil Brooklyn 17L shoulder bag with MIK Hooks is a single-shoulder pannier designed for everyday cycling and commuting. With a 17-litre main compartment and MIK-compatible mounting hooks, the bag combines practical shoulder carry with secure attachment to MIK luggage systems on compatible bike racks. Its neutral sand colour and structured shape suit urban environments and daily use.
Advantages
The bag provides a capacious 17 L main compartment for personal items while keeping a compact silhouette suitable for city bikes. MIK-compatible hooks enable a reliable, tool-free attachment to MIK luggage plates; the single-shoulder design allows quick transition between bike and pedestrian use. Constructed for daily commuting, the bag balances accessibility and stability when mounted.
Suitable for
Daily commute to work or school with need for a moderate load (laptop sleeve or documents plus essentials)
Errands and short urban rides where quick on/off mounting is required
Cyclists using racks or platforms compatible with MIK mounting systems
Users who prefer a shoulder-carry option alongside rack mounting
When it may not be suitable
This bag is not intended for long-distance touring or heavy cargo transport where larger panniers or dedicated touring luggage would be more appropriate. It may also be less suitable for off-road cycling where extra protection, more rigid attachment systems, or reinforced weatherproofing are required.
Key specifications
 Capacity: 17 litres
Mounting system: MIK-compatible hook attachment for rear racks
Carry options: single-shoulder strap and rear rack mounting
Primary material: durable fabric suitable for urban use
Colour: sand (neutral tone for urban styling)
How to use
Place personal items in the main 17 L compartment; use internal pockets if present to separate small items. To mount, align the bag’s MIK hooks with a compatible MIK plate or rail on the rear rack and engage the locking mechanism until the bag sits securely. To carry by hand, adjust or release the shoulder strap and sling it over one shoulder. Regularly check hook engagement before starting a ride and redistribute contents to maintain balance while cycling.
What to consider before purchase
Confirm that your bicycle rack is compatible with MIK mounting systems
Evaluate whether 17 L capacity matches your typical daily load (documents, small laptop, lunch, etc.)
Consider whether you need additional weatherproofing or reflective detailing for low-light conditions
Check shoulder strap length and carry comfort for extended off-bike use
Usage recommendations
For stable rides, mount the bag centered on the rack and distribute weight evenly. Use protective sleeves for electronics, and lock the bag to the rack or frame when leaving the bike unattended if your MIK plate supports a locking option.
