## Long description

BENCHMADE 5370BK-07 Shootout is an OTF (out-the-front) automatic opening knife engineered for rapid single-handed deployment. The design features a front-opening blade that extends and retracts via an internal automatic mechanism, providing fast access when immediate cutting action is required. The model is offered by BENCHMADE and is intended for users who require a compact, quickly deployable blade where automatic knives are permitted.
Advantages
The Shootout model delivers repeatable, smooth deployment and retraction thanks to its automatic slider system, allowing the blade to be deployed with minimal hand movement. The front-opening configuration provides a direct cutting edge without pivoting action, which can be advantageous in one-handed or confined-space scenarios. The construction uses materials and tolerances consistent with BENCHMADE manufacturing standards to offer reliable operation and a balanced feel for carry.
Suitable for
Everyday carry in jurisdictions where automatic knives are legal
Tactical or first-response tasks requiring fast single-handed blade deployment
Collectors of automatic and OTF knives seeking modern designs
Cutting tasks where quick access and rapid retraction are valued
When it may not be suitable
This automatic OTF knife may not be suitable in jurisdictions where automatic or switchblade-style knives are restricted or prohibited; always verify local laws before purchasing or carrying. It may also be less appropriate for tasks that demand large cutting surfaces or heavy-duty chopping, where a larger fixed or folding blade would perform better.
Key specifications
Opening type: Out-the-front (OTF) automatic mechanism
Deployment: Single-handed automatic deployment and retraction
 Blade orientation: Front-opening straight blade
Handle: Ergonomic handle designed for secure grip during deployment
Intended use: Everyday carry, tactical, collecting
How to use
Operate the slider or button located on the handle to extend the blade forward until it locks into place; perform the reverse action to retract the blade. Ensure you maintain a firm grip and point the cutting edge away from yourself and others during deployment and retraction. Regularly inspect the mechanism for debris or wear, and follow manufacturer guidance for lubrication and maintenance to sustain reliable operation.
What to consider before purchase
Check local and national laws regarding possession, transport, and carry of automatic/OTF knives
Confirm the knife's size and weight fit your carry preferences and legal carry methods
Consider intended tasks—automatic OTF knives are optimized for quick access rather than heavy chopping
Plan for maintenance: mechanism cleaning and periodic lubrication extend service life
Usage recommendations
Use the BENCHMADE 5370BK-07 Shootout where rapid single-handed deployment is required and where automatic knives are allowed. Store and transport the knife according to local regulations, keep the mechanism clean, and handle the blade with care to avoid accidental injury.
