## Summary description

Celestron 71198 binoculars featuring 7x magnification and a 50 mm objective diameter for clear observations. Built with BK-7 prisms, a waterproof body, and a 119 m field of view at 1000 meters. Designed with a 7.1 mm exit pupil in a black finish, suitable for outdoor activities, nature viewing, and general field use.

## Long description

The Celestron 71198 binoculars combine a 7x magnification and a 50 mm objective diameter to deliver bright, clear, and stable observations for outdoor and astronomical use. Featuring a robust BK-7 Porro prism optical system, multi-coated optics, and a waterproof black housing, these binoculars are built to gather ample light for low-light conditions and night sky viewing. The wide field of view and comfortable exit pupil make them a practical choice for nature enthusiasts and casual stargazers alike.
Advantages
These binoculars provide exceptional light-gathering capability thanks to the large 50 mm objective lenses and multi-coated optics, which significantly increase light transmission for high-contrast and high-resolution images. The 7x magnification paired with a wide field of view allows users to easily scan large areas of the landscape or night sky without experiencing excessive image shake. Built with a durable aluminum housing and a waterproof design, the instrument withstands various weather conditions, while the large exit pupil ensures comfortable viewing during dusk, dawn, or nighttime sessions.
Suitable for
Astronomy and comet watching
Stargazing and lunar observation
General outdoor activities
Nature and wildlife viewing
Landscape observation in low-light conditions
When it may not be suitable
These binoculars may not be the ideal choice for users seeking high magnification for detailed close-ups of distant subjects, as the 7x power is optimized for wide-field stability rather than high-power reach. Additionally, their physical dimensions and Porro prism design make them bulkier than compact roof prism models, which might be less convenient for minimalist backpacking.

How to use
To begin viewing, adjust the central hinge of the binoculars until the two barrels align with your eyes for a single, circular field of view. Rotate the center focus wheel while looking through the optics until your subject appears sharp and clear. If you wear eyeglasses, you can comfortably use the binoculars by keeping them on or folding down the rubber eyecups. For extended astronomical viewing sessions, mount the binoculars on a compatible tripod using an L-adapter to eliminate hand fatigue and maintain a steady image.
What to consider before purchase
Assess whether a 7x magnification meets your viewing distance requirements
Consider the physical size and weight for portability during travel
Determine if tripod adaptability is needed for your intended observation style
Verify compatibility with your primary use cases, such as astronomy or daylight nature viewing
For optimal performance and longevity, store your binoculars in the included carrying case when not in use, clean the lenses only with specialized optical cleaning cloths, and keep the protective objective caps attached during transport.
