## Summary description

DEVI MA ICE-20W/M is a self-regulating anti-icing heating cable with rated output 20 W per meter and total power 2700 W at 135 m length. Designed to prevent ice and snow buildup on roofs, gutters and downpipes, it adapts heat output to ambient temperature, reduces risk of overheating and suits outdoor freeze-protection applications.

## Long description

DEVI MA ICE-20W/M is a self-regulating anti-icing heating cable with a rated output of 20 W per meter and a total power of 2700 W at 135 m length. It is designed to prevent ice and snow accumulation on roofs, gutters and downpipes by increasing heat output in colder zones and reducing it where ambient temperature rises. The cable’s self-regulating characteristic reduces the risk of overheating and improves energy efficiency in outdoor freeze-protection applications.
Advantages
The heating cable automatically adjusts its power according to ambient temperature, delivering higher heat where ice is most likely to form and lowering consumption when warming occurs. Its robust construction is suitable for exposed outdoor installations and provides continuous freeze protection for roof edges, gutters and downspouts. Installation flexibility along linear roof elements and pipes makes it practical for a range of building types while lowering manual maintenance needs related to ice removal.
Suitable for
Preventing ice dams and icicles on roof edges and eaves
Keeping gutters and downpipes free from ice blockages
Protecting roof valleys and skylight perimeters from snow and ice buildup
Freeze protection for exposed outdoor piping and drains
When it may not be suitable
This cable is intended for external anti-icing and roof/gutter freeze protection; it is not a general-purpose indoor heating cable for underfloor heating or direct burial where specific approvals are required. For installations with unusual mechanical stresses or where thermal insulation would trap heat, alternative systems or additional protection may be preferable. Always check local electrical regulations and compatibility with mounting surfaces before choosing the cable.
Key specifications
 Heating type: self-regulating heating cable
Linear power output: 20 W per metre (at reference cold condition)
 Total installed power: 2700 W (for 135 m length)
Recommended application: outdoor anti-icing for roofs, gutters and downpipes
 Length: 135 metres
Suitable for continuous outdoor exposure when installed according to manufacturer guidelines
How to use
Plan the cable routing along roof edges, inside gutters and downpipes or along exposed piping where ice formation is likely. Secure the cable according to mounting instructions for the specific roof or gutter material, ensuring good thermal contact and avoiding sharp bends or mechanical damage. Connect the cable to a suitably rated power supply and use an appropriate control device or thermostat designed for anti-icing systems to switch the cable based on temperature or moisture sensors. Regularly inspect the installation for wear, secure fixings and weather damage, and follow local wiring regulations and safety practices during installation and maintenance.
What to consider before purchase
Verify the required total cable length and power for the roof, gutter or pipe sections to be protected
Confirm compatibility with local electrical supply and the need for a control or thermostat for automatic operation
Assess mounting surface and mechanical protection needs for outdoor exposure
Check installation rules and any required certifications or approvals for outdoor heating systems in your area
Usage recommendations
For reliable anti-icing performance, combine the self-regulating heating cable with a temperature or combined temperature-and-moisture controller, route the cable to cover vulnerable roof edges and gutter paths continuously, and follow DEVI installation instructions and local electrical codes. Periodic visual inspections and maintaining secure fixings will extend service life and ensure consistent freeze protection.
