It covers the backside of the graphics card PCB, improving aesthetics while providing passive thermal support to the GPU core, rear-mounted VRAM and the PCB VRM area. The backplate’s ribbed design increases surface area for improved passive cooling and makes physical contact with the active part of the water block to enable hybrid cooling.
