## Summary description

Glyph Blackbox PRO is an enterprise-class storage array offering 8TB capacity with hardware RAID and Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. Designed for high-performance data capture, editing and backup workflows, it provides reliable RAID protection, fast transfer speeds via Thunderbolt 3 and professional-grade components for media production, post-production and small server storage.

## Long description

Glyph Blackbox PRO RAID 8TB Enterprise Class Thunderbolt 3 is an enterprise-class external storage array that combines 8TB raw capacity with hardware RAID and a Thunderbolt 3 interface. Designed for professional media workflows, the unit aims to deliver consistent performance for video capture, real-time editing and backups while offering RAID-level data protection and professional-grade components for reliability in studio and small server environments.
Advantages
The Blackbox PRO integrates hardware RAID acceleration with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity to provide low-latency, high-throughput transfers suitable for high-resolution video and large file sets. Its enterprise-class components and cooling are geared toward sustained performance under continuous workloads. The enclosure simplifies drive management and RAID configuration while maintaining a compact footprint compatible with desktop and rack-adjacent setups.
Suitable for
Video capture and editing workflows, including multi-stream HD and some 4K projects
On-set recording and post-production workstations requiring fast external storage
Local backup and archival of media files and project folders
Small server or shared storage for creative teams using Thunderbolt 3‑equipped Macs or PCs
When it may not be suitable
This storage array may not be appropriate for environments that require very large single-volume capacities beyond 8TB raw or scale-out network-attached storage for many concurrent users. It is also less suitable where native Ethernet-based network sharing and remote access are primary requirements, since connectivity is via Thunderbolt 3.
Key specifications
Raw storage capacity: 8 TB (configured in a hardware RAID array)
Interface: Thunderbolt 3 for host connection
RAID: Hardware RAID support for redundancy and performance (factory or user-configurable)
Intended use: Enterprise-class external array for media production and backup
Form factor: Desktop enclosure with active cooling and professional components
How to use
Connect the Blackbox PRO to a Thunderbolt 3 port on your workstation, initialize the array according to the included setup instructions and choose the RAID level that matches your priority for redundancy versus capacity. Use the provided or compatible disk management tools to format the volume for your operating system and copy project files or set up backup routines. For multi-user workflows, connect the device to a host machine that will serve files to the network or use it as a dedicated local storage target for editing systems.
What to consider before purchase
Confirm your host computer has Thunderbolt 3 ports and the necessary bandwidth for your workflows
Decide which RAID level suits your needs for redundancy versus usable capacity
Assess whether 8TB raw capacity meets your long-term storage requirements or if additional external storage will be necessary
Plan for backup strategy beyond RAID; RAID is not a substitute for off-site or archival backups
Usage recommendations
Use the Glyph Blackbox PRO with native Thunderbolt 3 hosts and regularly verify RAID health and backups. For video editing, work from optimized project drives and archive completed projects to separate media to preserve capacity and RAID longevity.
