## Long description

Flat zester grater from the Microplane Black Sheep Series designed for fine zesting and precise grating of citrus, hard cheeses and other aromatics. The original long, narrow zester blade cuts food cleanly without tearing, releasing natural aromas while producing consistent, thin shavings. The tool features a slim, flat profile for controlled strokes and compact storage.
Advantages
The photo‑etched stainless‑steel blade is ultra‑sharp and long‑lasting, providing effortless grating and precise cuts that avoid ripping or shredding. The all‑black stainless‑steel construction with a matte finish and PVD coating increases scratch resistance and gives a uniform appearance. A non‑slip rubber foot improves stability during use, and a reusable protective cover makes storage safe. The design permits quick rinsing and is also dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning.
Suitable for
Citrus zesting (avoiding bitter pith)
Grating hard cheeses such as parmesan
Grating chocolate, truffles and nuts
Grating ginger, garlic and whole spices
Key specifications
Blade type: photo‑etched stainless steel, ultra‑sharp
Finish: matte black stainless steel with PVD coating for added scratch resistance
Foot: non‑slip rubber for stability
Protective cover: reusable (hand wash recommended for cover)
Overall dimensions: 31.0 cm × 4.7 cm × 1.5 cm
Grating surface dimensions: 16.5 cm × 3.3 cm
Cleaning: rinses quickly under running water; dishwasher safe
How to use
Hold the flat zester at a slight angle and move the ingredient across the blade with light, even strokes to remove thin shavings. For citrus, grate only the colored zest and avoid the bitter white pith. Apply minimal pressure to prevent tearing and to allow the blade to cut cleanly; periodically tap or rinse the blade to remove residue. After use, rinse under running water and allow to drip dry or place in the dishwasher.
Usage recommendations
For best results, use the Microplane zester for short, controlled strokes and clean the blade immediately after grating sticky or oily foods. Store with the protective cover in place to keep the blade sharp and prevent accidental contact.
