## Summary description

Mechanical lens adapter Novoflex EOSR/CAN allows mounting Canon FD manual-focus lenses on Canon EOS‑R mirrorless cameras. The adapter provides physical compatibility without electronic communication, retaining manual aperture and focusing control of the lens. Suitable for photographers who want to use vintage FD glass on modern EOS‑R bodies for creative control and unique rendering.

## Long description

The Novoflex lens adapter for mounting Canon FD manual-focus lenses on Canon EOS‑R mirrorless cameras creates a secure mechanical connection between vintage FD glass and modern EOS‑R bodies. This adapter preserves the mechanical aperture and focus control of the original lens while providing correct flange distance to achieve infinity focus. There is no electronic communication between lens and camera, so exposure metering and EXIF data behave according to camera settings and manual operation.
Advantages
The adapter offers precise metal-to-metal coupling for stable lens alignment and repeatable mounting, minimizing play and tilting. Its construction maintains correct flange focal distance, allowing lenses to reach infinity focus when used on Canon EOS‑R mounts. The all-mechanical design ensures compatibility with a wide range of Canon FD lenses without electronic dependency, preserving the lens’ original aperture ring and manual focus feel.
Suitable for
Photographers who want to use Canon FD prime and zoom lenses on Canon EOS‑R mirrorless bodies
Users seeking vintage lens rendering and manual control for portrait, street, or landscape photography
Photographers experimenting with adapted glass for creative effects such as bokeh and unique color rendition
Key specifications
Mount type: Canon FD (lens side) to Canon EOS‑R (camera side)
Connection: fully mechanical, no electronic contacts
Material: metal construction for durability and stable mounting
Flange focal distance adaptation: engineered to preserve infinity focus on EOS‑R bodies
Control retention: manual aperture ring and focus operation retained on lens
How to use
Align the red or white index marks on the adapter and the Canon FD lens, then twist the lens into place until it locks. Mount the adapter with the attached lens onto the Canon EOS‑R camera bayonet and secure it with the adapter’s locking mechanism. Set the camera to a manual or aperture-priority exposure mode and use manual focus; enable focus peaking or magnification in the camera menu to assist with precise focusing. Metering is handled by the camera according to the selected exposure mode, and aperture is adjusted on the lens itself.
Usage recommendations
For best results, use manual exposure modes or aperture-priority and verify focus with live view magnification or focus peaking. Because the adapter does not transmit lens data, enable an appropriate exposure and white balance workflow in-camera or post-processing. Clean mount contacts and mating surfaces before use to avoid debris that could affect seating; store the adapter with caps to protect flange surfaces when not mounted.
