The Petzl GRIGRI aluminium and steel assisted‑braking belay device is designed for sport, gym and crag use. Compact and lightweight, it works with single dynamic ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm and is optimised for ropes 8.9–10.5 mm. The device provides cam‑assisted blocking to help catch falls and an ergonomic handle for controlled lowering and smooth rope feed.
Advantages
Cam‑assisted blocking increases security by pinching the rope when weighted, reducing the force needed from the belayer to hold a fall. The ergonomic handled camming mechanism gives progressive control during lowering and a 3:1 mechanical advantage to ease rope feed control across different rope diameters.
