## Long description

The LaCie 2big RAID 8TB is a desktop disk array that combines two 3.5" HDDs to deliver 8 TB of usable storage for creative professionals and businesses. The unit supports hardware RAID 0/1 for configurable performance or redundancy, includes hot-swappable IronWolf Pro drives running at 7200 RPM, and is compatible with LaCie RAID Manager for drive and system health alerts. The desktop chassis measures 217 mm × 118 mm × 88.5 mm, weighs 2.8 kg, and features a black finish suitable for office or studio environments.
Advantages
The 2big RAID provides a balance of speed and data protection through easy-to-configure hardware RAID 0/1, enabling either maximum throughput or mirrored redundancy. IronWolf Pro drives offer 7200-RPM performance for smooth video editing and fast file transfers, while hot-swappable bays allow drive replacement without powering down the system. LaCie RAID Manager monitors drive and system health and the package includes 5-year Rescue Data Recovery Services for added data protection in case of accidental damage or failure.
Suitable for
Photo backup and archiving for photographers
Video editing workflows requiring sustained throughput
Small studio or office desktop storage
Environments needing easy drive replacement (hot swap)

How to use
Set the LaCie 2big RAID on a stable, ventilated desktop surface and connect it to your workstation using the supplied interface cable. Use the hardware RAID selector to choose RAID 0 for maximum performance or RAID 1 for mirrored redundancy, then initialize the drives in your operating system if required. Install LaCie RAID Manager to receive drive and system health alerts and perform routine checks. If a drive fails, unlock the corresponding hot-swappable bay, remove the failed HDD, insert a replacement IronWolf Pro drive and allow the RAID to rebuild according to the chosen RAID level.
Usage recommendations
Place the unit in a dust-free, well-ventilated area and maintain regular backups in addition to RAID redundancy. Monitor drive health with LaCie RAID Manager and replace drives promptly if alerts indicate impending failure. Consider RAID 0 only when you have an additional backup strategy, and choose RAID 1 when data redundancy is a priority.
