## Long description

The SecurityNET SEC5EUTPG500 is a professional-grade Category 5e U/UTP network cable engineered specifically for demanding outdoor environments. This 4x2x0.5 twisted pair cable is constructed with a robust outer jacket and a specialized gel-filled core, which effectively prevents moisture ingress and protects the internal conductors from harsh weather conditions. With a generous 500-meter length, this cable provides a reliable solution for extensive network infrastructure and security system deployments.
Advantages
The primary benefit of this cable is its superior environmental resistance provided by the gel-filled design, which ensures long-term signal integrity even in humid or wet conditions. The Category 5e standard supports stable data transmission speeds suitable for modern local area networks and surveillance systems. Its durable construction minimizes the risk of physical damage during installation, making it a dependable choice for long-distance outdoor runs where reliability is critical.
Suitable for
Outdoor local area network (LAN) installations
CCTV and IP camera surveillance systems
Connecting remote network devices across building sites
Infrastructure projects requiring moisture-resistant cabling
When it may not be suitable
This cable is not intended for indoor use where fire safety regulations require specific low-smoke or halogen-free materials. Additionally, it is not suitable for high-speed data environments exceeding Category 5e performance standards, such as 10Gbps networks.
Key specifications
Category: 5e
Shielding: U/UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair)
Construction: 4x2x0.5
Core type: Gel-filled
Length: 500 meters
Application: Outdoor
How to use
To install the cable, ensure that the path is clear of sharp edges that could compromise the outer jacket. When pulling the cable from the 500-meter reel, use a cable dispenser to prevent tangling or kinking. Terminate the ends using compatible Category 5e connectors, ensuring that the gel is properly cleaned from the conductors before making the connection to maintain signal quality. Secure the cable using appropriate outdoor-rated mounting hardware to prevent sagging or mechanical stress.
What to consider before purchase
Verify the total distance of your cable run to ensure it does not exceed standard Ethernet limitations.
Check if your installation environment requires specific fire-rated or plenum-rated cables.
Ensure you have the necessary tools for stripping and terminating gel-filled outdoor cables.
Usage recommendations
For optimal performance, avoid bending the cable beyond its minimum bend radius and ensure that all outdoor connections are housed in weather-resistant junction boxes to provide additional protection against the elements.
