## Long description

The SmallRig 900 Aluminum Alloy 15mm Rod Black is a durable and lightweight support rod designed for professional camera rig setups. Crafted from high-grade aluminum alloy with a sleek black finish, this rod provides a reliable and sturdy mounting foundation for various video production accessories. It ensures stability, precise alignment, and long-lasting performance during demanding shooting sessions.
Advantages
This support rod offers a lightweight construction that prevents unnecessary fatigue during handheld or shoulder-mounted shooting while maintaining high structural rigidity. The durable aluminum alloy material resists wear and tear, ensuring a secure hold for heavy equipment. Furthermore, the standardized 15mm diameter provides broad compatibility with a wide range of third-party camera accessories and industry-standard mounting systems.
Suitable for
Building professional camera rig configurations
Mounting follow focus systems and lens gears
Attaching matte boxes for light control
Setting up shoulder mounts and support systems
Extending existing rod setups using compatible connectors and threaded ends
When it may not be suitable
This rod may not be suitable for lightweight photography setups that do not utilize 15mm rod support systems. Additionally, it is not designed to support direct heavy-duty load-bearing applications outside of standard camera rig accessories.
Key specifications
Rod diameter: 15 mm
Material: Aluminum alloy
Color: Black finish
Thread type: M12 threaded ends for rod extension
How to use
Insert the 15mm rod through compatible rod clamps on your camera baseplate, shoulder rig, or cage. Secure the rod firmly by tightening the thumbscrews or locking levers on your rig components. If additional length is required, use a compatible rod connector with the M12 threads to attach another rod securely, allowing you to customize the rig length to your specific shooting requirements.
What to consider before purchase
Verify that your existing camera rig components and accessories utilize the standard 15mm rod clamping system
Check the required length for your specific camera configuration to determine if extensions are needed
Ensure compatibility with M12 threaded connectors if you plan on joining multiple rods together
For optimal stability and safety, always ensure that rods are inserted deeply enough into their respective clamps and tightened securely before mounting heavy accessories such as matte boxes or follow focus units.
