The Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II is a next-generation G Master standard zoom for full-frame E-mount cameras. It offers a constant F2.8 aperture across the zoom range, advanced optics for high resolution, fast AF performance, and a compact, lightweight design that suits both stills and movie shooting.
Advantages
High-resolution performance comparable to top prime lenses is achieved through two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED and two Super ED glass elements, a floating focus mechanism, and Nano AR Coating II to minimise flare and ghosting. A new 11-blade aperture and precise spherical aberration control produce smooth G Master bokeh throughout the zoom range. The lens is the smallest and lightest in its class for an F2.8 24–70mm zoom, weighing 695 g and offering reduced length and volume for improved portability. Four XD Linear Motors, the floating focus mechanism and refined lens control deliver fast, precise AF and improved tracking, with support for high-speed continuous shooting on compatible bodies. Movie-oriented refinements reduce image shifts and angle-of-view changes, provide independent focus and aperture rings, and enable Linear Response MF for predictable manual focusing. The construction includes dust and moisture resistance and a fluorine coating on the front element; the supplied hood has an opening for circular polarising and variable ND filters and two customizable focus-hold buttons are provided.
