## Long description

The STABILA 14557 folding ruler Beech 2 m metric 17 mm width is a reliable and precise measuring tool designed for everyday professional and domestic applications. Crafted from high-quality beechwood originating from sustainable forest management sites, this two-meter wooden rule combines traditional materials with modern functional design. It features a clear metric distance system with easily readable centimeter and millimeter units, allowing for accurate measurements on any job site or in the workshop. The robust construction includes hardened sheet steel joints equipped with an integrated steel spring, ensuring exceptional durability, wear resistance, and precise locking of the segments during use.
Advantages
This measuring device provides high stability and longevity thanks to its resilient beechwood construction and reinforced joint mechanism. The surface is treated to withstand demanding workshop and construction site conditions, protecting the wood against moisture and wear. An integrated angle schema allows users to quickly measure and transfer frequently used angles such as 45 and 60 degrees without needing a separate angle finder. The precise spring-loaded joints ensure that the rule clicks securely into place when opened or folded, maintaining straight alignment during extended measurements.
Suitable for
Carpentry and woodworking projects
General construction and building tasks
DIY home improvement and renovation work
Quick on-site measurement and transfer of 45-degree and 60-degree angles
When it may not be suitable
This folding rule may not be the ideal choice for environments requiring continuous immersion in water or exposure to harsh chemicals, as prolonged moisture exposure can eventually degrade wood and metal components. It is also less suitable for extremely long-span measurements where a flexible tape measure or laser distance meter would provide greater efficiency.
Key specifications
Length: 2 meters
Material: High-quality beechwood from sustainable forestry
Measurement system: Metric with centimeters and millimeters
Width: 17 mm
Joint strength: 3.3 mm
Joint type: Hardened sheet steel with integrated steel spring
Special feature: Integrated angle schema
How to use
To use the folding rule, unfold the individual segments until they lock securely into the fully extended position or to the desired length. Ensure the spring-loaded joints are fully engaged for maximum straightness and measurement accuracy. When utilizing the integrated angle schema, align the tool according to the specific markings to transfer required angles directly onto your workpiece. After completing the measurement task, fold the segments back systematically to protect the joints and wooden surfaces during storage and transport.
What to consider before purchase
Verify that the metric measurement system matches your project requirements
Consider whether a wooden folding rule suits your environmental working conditions better than fiberglass or metal alternatives
Assess if the 2-meter length is sufficient for your typical measuring tasks
Usage recommendations: Store the folding rule in a dry place when not in use to preserve the integrity of the wood and prevent corrosion on the steel joints. Clean the surface gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust and debris after working on construction sites.
