## Summary description

VALLEJO True Metallic Metal Base 77.139 Aged Metal is an 18 ml acrylic metallic base paint designed for scale models, miniatures and hobby projects. Provides a metallic aged-metal finish with good coverage and adhesion on primed surfaces; compatible with other acrylics and varnishes for layering, weathering and detailing work.

## Long description

VALLEJO True Metallic Metal Base 77.139 Aged Metal (18 ml) is an acrylic metallic base paint formulated for scale models, miniatures and hobby projects. The paint delivers an aged-metal appearance with good coverage and adhesion on properly primed surfaces. It is water-based, compatible with other acrylics and varnishes, and intended for layering, weathering and detailing work where a subdued metallic finish is required.
Advantages
This metallic base provides a consistent aged-metal tone in a convenient 18 ml dropper bottle, allowing controlled application for small parts and fine details. The acrylic formula offers reliable adhesion to primed plastic, resin and metal surfaces, dries to a stable film suitable for subsequent washes and varnishes, and mixes well with other water-based paints for custom shading and weathering effects.
Suitable for
Scale model kits (armor, vehicles, aircraft details)
Tabletop miniatures and figures requiring metallic weathering
Hobby projects combining base coats with washes and drybrushing
Detailing small parts, edges and components where an aged metal look is desired
When it may not be suitable
This product is designed as a base metallic paint and may not provide a mirror-like chrome finish; for high-reflectivity needs a dedicated chrome or metalizing product is more appropriate. Optimal results require application over a compatible primer; adhesion and coverage may be reduced on unprimed or oily surfaces.
Key specifications
Finish: aged metallic
Type: water-based acrylic
Volume: 18 ml
Application: brush, airbrush (thin if necessary)
Compatibility: mixable with other water-based acrylics and varnishes
How to use
Shake the bottle before use to ensure pigment uniformity. Apply the paint thinly in multiple light coats for even coverage and to preserve detail. When airbrushing, thin with the manufacturer's recommended thinner or water to the desired viscosity. Allow adequate drying time between layers before applying washes, glazes or varnishes. Clean brushes and airbrush equipment with water while the paint is wet.
What to consider before purchase
Requires a compatible primer on plastic, resin or metal for best adhesion
Not intended to produce a high-gloss mirror chrome finish
Small 18 ml volume is suited to detail work rather than large-area coverage
Water-based formula is sensitive to freezing and should be stored at recommended temperatures
Usage recommendations
For realistic aged-metal effects, apply a base coat of VALLEJO True Metallic Metal Base Aged Metal, then add selective washes and drybrushing with lighter metallics or pigments. Test mixes and thinners on a spare part to dial in viscosity and opacity before working on the final model.
