## Long description

VALLEJO True Metallic Metal Ruby Red 77.166 (18 ml) is an acrylic airbrush paint formulated for producing a metallic ruby-red finish on scale models, miniatures, automotive details and hobby projects. Water-based and part of the True Metallic Metal range, this 18 ml bottle is designed for smooth atomization through airbrushes and for achieving consistent metallic coverage with realistic color depth.
Advantages
This acrylic airbrush paint provides a true metallic sheen with an even, reflective surface when applied correctly. Its water-based formulation allows for easy thinning and cleaning with water or appropriate airbrush cleaners, while maintaining pigment stability for predictable results. The fluidity and particle size are optimized for airbrush use, enabling smooth layering, blending and feathering without frequent nozzle clogging when used at recommended pressures and dilution ratios.
Suitable for
Scale model painting where a metallic ruby-red accent is required
Miniatures and figures that need a reflective metallic finish
Automotive detailing on small parts and trims
Hobby and craft projects requiring water-based metallic airbrush paints
When it may not be suitable
This product is formulated primarily for airbrush application; brush-applied results may show brush marks or uneven metallic distribution and are not guaranteed to match airbrushed finishes. For large surfaces or industrial automotive panels a larger-format or solvent-based automotive paint may be more appropriate for durability and coverage.
Key specifications
Type: Acrylic, water-based metallic paint
Finish: Metallic ruby-red with reflective particles
Volume: 18 ml
Intended application: Airbrush
Compatibility: Suitable for plastic, resin, metal and primed surfaces commonly used in modelling
How to use
Shake the bottle well before use to ensure uniform distribution of metallic pigments. Thin the paint as needed with water or a dedicated acrylic thinner to reach the recommended viscosity for your airbrush and working pressure; typical dilution ratios depend on the airbrush and nozzle size. Apply thin, even coats, allowing short flash-off times between passes to build coverage and depth without runs. Clean the airbrush regularly during use to avoid pigment buildup and clogging.
What to consider before purchase
Intended application method: optimized for airbrushes rather than brushing
Surface preparation: use compatible primer for best adhesion and true color
Drying and sealing: consider a clear coat appropriate for acrylic metallics to protect the finish
Usage recommendations
For best results, thin incrementally and test spray on a scrap surface to determine optimal pressure and flow. Apply multiple thin layers instead of one heavy coat to maintain a smooth metallic appearance. Allow complete drying between layers before handling or clear-coating.
