Designed for controlled spraying and layering to achieve realistic metal effects.

## Long description

VALLEJO True Metallic Metal Airbrush Obsidian Black 77.180 (18 ml) is an acrylic metallic paint formulated for airbrush use. Supplied in an 18 ml bottle, this shade provides a controlled, dark metallic finish intended for scale models, miniatures and hobby projects that require a subtle blackened metal effect. The formulation is optimized for layering and blending through an airbrush to create realistic metallic surfaces with depth and controlled reflectivity.
Advantages
The product offers fine metallic pigments in an acrylic base designed for smooth atomization through airbrushes. Its Obsidian Black tone produces a deep metallic sheen that retains visible metallic highlights while keeping overall darkness, allowing for realistic metal simulations. The 18 ml bottle size is convenient for hobbyists and modelers who need a dedicated shade for detailing and layering without large amounts of leftover paint.
Suitable for
Scale models and vehicle miniatures that require a dark metallic surface
Figure and miniature detailing where subtle metallic highlights are desired
Hobby projects and dioramas needing controlled airbrushing and layering
Touch-ups and accenting on painted metal parts and model accessories
When it may not be suitable
This paint is designed specifically for airbrush application; it may not perform optimally when applied directly with a brush without suitable thinning and technique adjustments. For large-area industrial coatings or exterior metal protection, this product is not intended and lacks the corrosion resistance and film thickness of specialized industrial coatings.
Key specifications
Type: Acrylic metallic paint formulated for airbrush use
Finish: Dark metallic (blackened metallic sheen)
Volume: 18 ml per bottle
Application method: Airbrush; compatible with thinning for spraying
Use: Designed for fine detailing, layering and realistic metal effects
How to use
Shake the bottle well before use to ensure even pigment suspension. Thin the paint as required for your airbrush system following VALLEJO airbrush thinning recommendations or using a compatible acrylic thinner until you achieve the desired viscosity. Apply in light, even passes, building up thin layers to control opacity and metallic effect. Allow sufficient drying time between layers and clean the airbrush thoroughly after use to prevent clogging from metallic pigments.
What to consider before purchase
Intended application method: optimized for airbrush use rather than direct brush application
Project size: 18 ml is suited for detailing and small-to-moderate projects
Compatibility: works with acrylic-based primers and topcoats; test compatibility with existing paints or varnishes
Need for thinning: metallic pigments may require proper thinning and airbrush maintenance
Usage recommendations
For best results, apply in multiple thin passes with appropriate thinning, allow drying between layers, and finish with a clear coat compatible with acrylic metallics to protect the metallic effect.
