## Long description

The Voigtlander Nokton 21mm f/1.4 for Leica M mount is a wide-angle manual-focus lens designed for rangefinder cameras. With a 21mm focal length and a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, the lens delivers a broad field of view combined with strong low-light performance and the ability to control depth of field. Its optical design aims for high center sharpness and usable corner performance while remaining compact and lightweight for travel and reportage shooting.
Advantages
The fast f/1.4 aperture provides greater exposure latitude in dim conditions and allows for selective focus effects even with a wide-angle perspective. The manual-focus mechanism offers precise distance setting and a tactile focusing ring suited to rangefinder use. The lens construction balances optical correction with a compact form factor, making it suitable for photographers who need wide coverage without excessive bulk. Mechanical build quality supports consistent handling and repeatable framing.
Suitable for
 Landscape photography with expansive compositions
Street and documentary photography where a wide field of view is required
Environmental portraits that include subject and surroundings
Low-light shooting such as interiors and night scenes
Key specifications
 Focal length: 21 mm
 Maximum aperture: f/1.4
Mount type: Leica M-compatible rangefinder mount
Focus type: manual focus with mechanical focusing ring
Optical design: multi-element wide-angle construction optimized for sharpness and contrast
Typical uses: wide-angle, landscape, street, environmental portrait
How to use
Attach the lens to a Leica M-mount camera according to the camera and lens mounting instructions. Use the viewfinder or framelines of the rangefinder to compose wide-angle scenes; when precise focus is required, use the lens focusing ring and parallax-corrected rangefinder coupling if available. Operate at larger apertures (f/1.4–f/2.8) to take advantage of low-light capability and subject separation, or stop down (f/5.6–f/11) for increased depth of field and edge-to-edge sharpness in landscapes. Since the lens is manual focus, allow extra time for accurate focus in fast-moving situations.
Usage recommendations
For best results in low light, combine the wide aperture with image stabilization from a camera body or use a tripod for long exposures. When shooting close to subjects, pay attention to perspective and distortion typical of wide-angle lenses and use careful framing to avoid unwanted converging lines. Regularly check focus calibration with the rangefinder and clean the front element with appropriate lens care tools to maintain image quality.
