Fibre optic connector QOLTEC 54100 — single connector for optical network connections
QOLTEC 54100 is a single connector fibre optic pigtail designed for singlemode networks. It provides a compact LC/APC interface and a 2 m 0.9 mm jacketed fibre finished to G.652.D standard, enabling low-loss coupling between optical equipment and fibre trunk lines. The product is intended for installations, splicing operations and repairs where a single, reliable optical termination is required.
The LC/APC connector type delivers low back-reflection and stable alignment for singlemode links. A G.652.D compliant fibre ensures predictable dispersion and attenuation characteristics for telecommunications and data transmission. The 0.9 mm diameter cable and 2 m length provide flexibility for routing and easy handling during installation and splicing without excess slack in confined spaces.
Strip and prepare the existing fibre according to common splicing practice, cleave the fibre to the required length and perform fusion splicing or mechanical splicing between the network fibre and the pigtail. After splicing, protect the splice point with appropriate heat-shrink or splice protection sleeve, and route the 2 m pigtail to the patch panel or transceiver, inserting the LC/APC connector into the mating adapter with the correct key orientation to ensure APC contact. Verify optical continuity and loss using an optical power meter or OTDR as part of commissioning.
Handle the LC/APC ferrule and connector end face with care: always keep protective caps on until final insertion, and clean end faces with approved fibre cleaning tools before connecting. Use strain relief or cable management to avoid sharp bends; maintain the minimum bend radius recommended for 0.9 mm fibre to prevent increased attenuation.
