The ICY BOX IB-1817Ma-C31 Silver is an aluminium M.2 SSD enclosure that supports PCI Express 3.0 NVMe cards in lengths 30, 42, 60 and 80 mm. It connects via USB Type-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2 / 3.1 Gen 2) and delivers a host-side data rate of up to 10 Gbit/s (around 1000 MB/s), making it suitable for fast external storage, drive cloning and running portable operating systems. The enclosure includes a patented cooling plate that transfers SSD waste heat to the housing to avoid thermal throttling and maintain sustained transfer speeds.

How to use

Open the enclosure, insert a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD of the supported length and secure it with the supplied screw. Connect the enclosure to your computer using the included USB Type-C cable. The device is operating-system independent and should be recognised automatically; if necessary, initialise or format the SSD in your OS disk management tool. Use the small supplied tool to move the write-protect switch to the protected position when you want to prevent write access, and move it back to allow normal read/write operations.

Usage recommendations
