The primary benefit of this tubing is its exceptional sealing capability, provided by the pre-applied hot melt adhesive that creates a moisture-proof barrier. Its medium-wall construction offers a balance of toughness and flexibility, making it highly resistant to mechanical stress and chemical exposure. Furthermore, the material is halogen-free and PBDE-free, ensuring it meets modern safety and environmental standards for industrial applications. This tubing may not be suitable for applications requiring extreme flexibility in very tight bends, as the medium-wall construction is designed for durability rather than high-degree elasticity. It is also not intended for use in environments where temperatures consistently exceed the maximum operating limit of 130°C.
To use the 3M MDT-A tubing, first ensure the cable surface is clean and free of debris. Slide the tubing over the area to be protected. Apply heat evenly around the circumference of the tube using a heat gun, starting from the center and moving toward the ends. Continue heating until the tubing has fully shrunk and the adhesive begins to flow slightly at the edges, indicating a secure, sealed connection. Allow the assembly to cool completely before handling.
For optimal results, ensure uniform heat distribution to prevent localized overheating and to allow the internal adhesive to melt evenly, ensuring a perfect IP68-rated seal.
