Abena Barrier Ointment, 33% Fat, 30 ml, Fragrance-Free and Color-Free

Abena Barrier Ointment is a specialized dermatological product formulated with a 33% fat content to provide intensive protection and care for sensitive or irritated skin. This fragrance-free and color-free ointment acts as a reliable barrier, shielding the skin from moisture, friction, and external irritants that can lead to skin breakdown. Its gentle composition is designed to support the skin's natural barrier function, making it an essential tool for maintaining skin health in both professional healthcare environments and home care settings.

Advantages

The primary benefit of this barrier ointment lies in its high fat content, which creates a long-lasting, water-repellent film on the skin surface. This protective layer effectively prevents maceration caused by prolonged exposure to moisture, such as urine or sweat. Because the formula is completely free from perfumes and colorants, it minimizes the risk of allergic reactions or skin irritation, making it highly suitable for individuals with hypersensitive skin or those prone to contact dermatitis. The ointment is easy to apply and spreads smoothly, ensuring that vulnerable areas receive consistent coverage without leaving an excessively greasy residue.

Suitable for

• Protecting skin in the perineal area from moisture-related irritation.
• Preventing skin breakdown in bedridden or immobile patients.
• Soothing dry, cracked, or sensitive skin patches.
• Providing a protective barrier for skin around stoma sites or wound edges.

When it may not be suitable

This product is not intended for use on deep, infected, or heavily weeping wounds where a specialized medical dressing or topical antibiotic may be required. It should also be avoided if the user has a known hypersensitivity to any of the specific lipid-based ingredients contained in the formula.

How to use

Before application, ensure the affected skin area is thoroughly cleaned and gently patted dry. Apply a thin, even layer of the Abena Barrier Ointment to the skin surface. There is no need to rub the ointment in vigorously; a light application is sufficient to form the protective barrier. Reapply the ointment after each cleansing or whenever the protective layer appears to have been removed to maintain continuous skin protection.

What to consider before purchase

• Check the ingredient list if you have specific lipid allergies.
• Consider the frequency of application to determine if the 30 ml size is sufficient for your needs.
• Ensure the skin is clean before application to prevent trapping bacteria under the barrier.

Usage recommendations

For optimal results, use this barrier ointment as part of a regular skin care routine, particularly during hygiene procedures. Consistent application is key to preventing skin irritation before it starts.
