The ADATA EC680 Grey M.2 USB Type-C PCIe is a metal SSD enclosure that converts a single M.2 PCIe NVMe drive into a portable external storage device. Designed in misty rock grey, the EC680 uses a PCIe Gen3 x2 bus and a USB 3.2 Gen2 (USB Type-C) interface to deliver up to 1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write performance while offering tool-less installation and an aluminium alloy housing with textured fins for improved cooling and handling.
The enclosure supports a wide range of M.2 form factors (2230, 2242, 2260, 2280) and is compatible with PCIe NVMe SSDs, providing flexible upgrade and expansion options. Its tool-free tray and side latch allow quick drive swapping without tools. The aluminium casing with a three-dimensional fin design enhances heat dissipation for stable operation at high transfer speeds. A USB Type-C connection and USB 3.2 Gen2 support ensure fast, broad platform compatibility.
Remove the side latch to slide out the inner tray, insert a compatible M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD of a supported length (2230/2242/2260/2280), secure the drive in the tray if needed, then slide the tray back into the enclosure until it locks. Connect the enclosure to a host device using the included USB Type-C cable and a USB 3.2 Gen2 port for optimal performance. The enclosure is bus-powered and requires no external power adapter. Follow your operating system's instructions to format or mount the drive if necessary.
For best sustained performance, use a high-quality PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD and connect to a host with a USB 3.2 Gen2 or higher Type-C port. Ensure the drive is properly seated and allow ventilation during heavy transfers to benefit from the aluminium fin cooling design.
