Studio microphone AKG C519 M
The AKG C519 M is a wired studio microphone designed for precise vocal and instrumental capture in recording and live monitoring situations. It covers a frequency range of 60–20,000 Hz and presents an input impedance of 200 Ω. With a signal-to-noise ratio of 63 dB and a low current draw of 2 mA at 52 V, this black, cardioid microphone delivers clear audio reproduction while connecting via a mini XLR (3-pin) interface.
The C519 M provides a focused cardioid pickup pattern that reduces off-axis noise and feedback, making it suitable for close-miking applications. Its wide frequency response supports faithful reproduction of both low and high-frequency content. The wired mini XLR connection ensures reliable signal transfer in studio setups. Compact build and included mini XLR cable simplify integration with stands and preamps that accept a mini XLR input.
Connect the AKG C519 M to a compatible preamp or audio interface using the supplied mini XLR (3-pin) cable. Ensure the preamp provides the required 52 V supply for proper operation. Position the microphone with its cardioid axis facing the sound source to maximize direct sound capture and minimize room ambience. Adjust preamp gain to achieve a clean level without clipping, and monitor the signal-to-noise ratio during tracking to maintain clarity.
For best results, place the microphone 5–30 cm from vocals or instruments depending on the desired proximity effect; use a pop filter for close vocal work and a stand or shock mount to reduce handling noise. Use the cardioid pattern to reject off-axis sound and reduce spill in multi-source environments.
