SATA Adapter Akyga AK-CA-83 — SATA male to SATA female inline adapter

The Akyga AK-CA-83 SATA adapter is an inline connector that converts a SATA male plug to a SATA female socket, enabling a direct passthrough of SATA data and power connections. It is designed to join or extend existing SATA leads between host cables and storage devices without altering signal type, maintaining standard SATA pinout and physical compatibility with 2.5" and 3.5" drives and SATA optical drives in desktop systems and storage enclosures.

Advantages

The adapter offers a compact, low-profile solution for extending or adapting SATA connections where cable length or connector orientation is limited. It preserves SATA signal integrity by providing a straightforward mechanical and electrical passthrough and requires no additional drivers or configuration. The inline form factor reduces strain on cables and connectors by allowing a short, secure connection between an existing male plug and a device or extension cable with a female socket.

Suitable for

• Connecting HDDs and SATA SSDs to existing SATA cables
• Extending reach between motherboard or controller cables and drives in desktop PCs
• Adapting cable orientations inside small form-factor enclosures
• Temporary drive swaps or testing in storage enclosures and test benches

Key specifications

• Connector type: SATA male to SATA female inline adapter
• Contact configuration: standard 7-pin data and 15-pin power passthrough (preserves SATA pinout)
• Compatibility: standard SATA devices including 2.5" and 3.5" HDDs, SATA SSDs and optical SATA drives
• Form factor: compact inline coupler for in-cable or in-system use
• Electrical characteristics: passive mechanical/electrical passthrough (no active electronics)

How to use

Insert the SATA male connector of the existing cable into the adapter's male end and attach the SATA device or extension cable to the adapter's female socket. Ensure proper alignment of the keyed SATA connectors before applying gentle pressure to seat the connection. The adapter functions as a passive extension; verify power and data connections on both sides after installation and perform normal drive detection via the system BIOS or operating system.

Usage recommendations

Use the adapter for short-term extensions or orientation changes rather than as a permanent long cable solution. Keep connections secure and avoid excessive bending or twisting at the adapter interface to prevent connector wear. When extending powered SATA runs, ensure adequate power delivery for connected devices and confirm system recognition after installation.
