Moka pot Alessi 9090/6 Stainless steel 205 mm height
The Alessi 9090/6 is a six-cup manual moka pot crafted from 18/10 stainless steel with a cast iron handle. With a height of 205 mm and compact dimensions, this classic stovetop espresso maker brews concentrated coffee for serving up to six small cups. The 9090 model is historically significant for Alessi: it was the brand's first kitchen object after the 1930s, the recipient of a Compasso d'Oro (1979), and the first Alessi piece included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Made from 18/10 stainless steel, the moka pot offers corrosion resistance and a polished surface that is simple to clean. The cast iron handle provides durable grip and heat resistance suited for stovetop use. Its compact six-cup capacity and classic design enable both daily brewing and direct serving at the table thanks to its refined aesthetic. The manual operation requires no electricity and ensures consistent extraction when used with correct grind and heat.
Fill the lower chamber with water up to the safety valve, insert the filter funnel and add medium-fine ground coffee without packing it down. Assemble the moka pot and place it on a stovetop over medium heat. When the coffee begins to flow into the upper chamber, reduce the heat and remove the pot once the gurgling sound stops to avoid overheating. Pour the brewed coffee into cups and rinse the pot after it cools.
Use freshly ground coffee and a consistent grind size suited for moka pots. Avoid using excessive heat to prevent burnt flavor and to protect the handle and seals. Hand wash and dry thoroughly to preserve the stainless-steel finish.
