Thermal pad Alphacool 12460
The Alphacool 12460 thermal pad is a grey, silicone-based thermal interface material designed to improve heat transfer between electronic components and heatsinks or cooling plates. Measuring 100 mm x 100 mm with a thickness of 1.5 mm, the pad offers uniform contact across flat surfaces and helps reduce thermal resistance in compact assemblies. It is cut to size as needed and applied between chipset, VRM or other heat-generating parts and their cooling solutions.
The thermal pad combines conformability with stable thickness to maintain consistent thermal contact under compression. Its 1.5 mm thickness fills small gaps and compensates for uneven surfaces without the mess of liquid thermal compounds. The grey material is non-curing and does not require mixing, allowing for immediate installation and predictable thermal performance over time.
Before installation, ensure both mating surfaces are clean and free of dust, grease and old thermal material. Cut the thermal pad to the required shape and size, remove the protective liners if present, and place the pad on the component or heatsink so it covers the contact area fully. Assemble the cooling solution and apply even pressure to compress the pad and create full contact. If necessary, trim excess material for a neat fit.
Store the thermal pad in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use appropriate thickness to match the gap between components; 1.5 mm is suitable for moderate gaps but thinner or thicker pads may be needed for very small or large tolerances. Replace the pad if it becomes torn, excessively compressed or contaminated to maintain thermal performance.
