Power Distribution Unit APC AP8453
The APC AP8453 is a metered-by-outlet power distribution unit (PDU) designed for rack environments that require per-outlet monitoring and reliable power delivery. It provides an LCD for local readout, real-time remote monitoring and user-defined alarms, and logs volts, amps, real power (kW) and energy (kWh) at the outlet level. The unit supports daisy-chaining of up to four PDUs from a single IP address and is rated to operate at ambient temperatures up to 60 °C. Power is supplied via an IEC 309 2P+E plug with a 3.05 m cord at 220–240 V and is distributed through 21 C13 and 3 C19 locking outlets at 230 V. The PDU is part of APC’s Green Premium programme and includes a verified product environment profile.
The APC AP8453 offers per-outlet metering and logging for volts, amps, real power and energy, enabling granular monitoring and historical reporting. It supports remote access and configuration via EcoStruxure IT, Web, SNMP and CLI, and provides user-defined alarms to help prevent circuit overloads. The 0U form factor fits easily in racks while the device’s ability to operate at up to 60 °C and the inclusion of locking C13/C19 outlets improve reliability and physical security of connected equipment.
Install the AP8453 in a rack using the 0U mounting position and connect incoming power to the IEC 309 2P+E plug. Connect equipment to the locking C13 and C19 outlets. Access the local LCD for immediate outlet-level readings or configure remote monitoring via EcoStruxure IT, web interface, SNMP or CLI. Define alarm thresholds to receive notifications for overloads or abnormal measurements. Use the local USB port to apply firmware updates when required.
Monitor historical reports regularly to plan capacity and to identify abnormal power consumption. Configure user-defined alarms and limit settings per outlet to reduce the risk of accidental power loss to critical equipment. Ensure input wiring and upstream protection match the PDU’s 32 A rating and follow site-specific grounding and safety practices.
