The APC Smart-UPS SMT1500IC is a line-interactive uninterruptible power supply with 1500 VA (1000 W) output, eight C13 outlets, USB connectivity and SmartConnect remote monitoring. Designed in a mini-tower form factor, the UPS uses a sealed lead-acid battery with a specified lifespan and a three-hour recharge time. It provides automatic emergency power when mains fail and includes an LCD and physical controls for basic configuration and status monitoring.

Advantages

The SMT1500IC supplies immediate battery power to connected equipment during power interruptions, helping to avoid data loss, unexpected shutdowns and hardware damage. It offers surge and lightning protection, out-of-box SmartConnect remote monitoring (with a six-month trial) and optional extended cloud or network-based management via EcoStruxure IT Expert or an APC Network Management Card. The internal, user-replaceable battery cartridge (RBC7) enables easy battery replacement without powering down connected equipment. Switched Outlet Groups allow phased startup and remote or local reboot of selected outlet groups to manage inrush current and restart sequences.

How to use

Install the UPS in a well-ventilated area, connect mains power and then plug your critical devices into the C13 outlets. Use the front LCD and buttons to view status and configure basic settings. For automatic, controlled shutdown of a connected server, connect one server to the UPS USB port and install the free APC PowerChute software; configure the shutdown thresholds within the software. For network-based management, install the optional APC Network Management Card and use EcoStruxure IT Expert or PowerChute Network Shutdown to coordinate shutdowns across multiple devices.

Usage recommendations

Monitor battery runtime via the runtime graph and replace the RBC7 battery cartridge before end of life to maintain protection. Consider enabling SmartConnect and, if needed, purchasing the Standard or Advanced SmartConnect plans or the APC service pack to extend manufacturer warranty periods.
