The Apricorn Aegis NVX 2 TB SSD is a hardware-encrypted external NVMe drive with onboard keypad authentication and USB Type-C connectivity. It provides up to 1000 MB/s transfer speeds, 256-bit AES XTS encryption implemented in hardware, and is software-free and OS agnostic. Housed in a milled 6061 aluminum alloy enclosure with tamper-resistant fasteners and a polymer-coated membrane keypad, the drive is compact and suitable for portable and field use. It supports separate Admin and User modes, programmable PIN lengths, brute-force defense, read-only modes, and recovery features for secure, repeatable deployment.

How to use

Set up the device in Admin mode by creating a unique Admin PIN (Admin Forced Enrollment). Optionally create User PINs and configure device settings such as minimum/maximum PIN length, brute-force attempt limit and auto-lock timeout. Unlock the drive by entering a PIN on the onboard keypad; the drive remains invisible to the host until unlocked. Connect to a host via the supplied USB Type-C cable (or Type-A adapter) to access files once the device is authenticated.

Usage recommendations

Configure a strong Admin PIN and set a minimum PIN length of at least 8 characters. Use the Aegis Configurator for bulk provisioning when deploying multiple devices, enable recovery PINs for user access recovery, and set a conservative brute-force threshold to balance security and usability.
