USB flash drive Apricorn 30 GB USB Type-A Aegis Secure Key 3.0
The Apricorn Aegis Secure Key 3.0 is a compact, hardware-encrypted USB 3.2 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A flash drive with 30 GB capacity, designed for secure, platform-independent portable storage. It provides on-the-fly, military-grade 256-bit AES XTS encryption with PIN-activated access via an onboard alphanumeric keypad and offers dust and water resistance with an IP58 certification pending. The drive is software-free to operate, immune to BadUSB exploits, and the USB controller is locked and not field-updatable. It is designed and assembled in the U.S.A.
The Aegis Secure Key 3.0 secures data using 256-bit AES XTS hardware encryption and supports independent User and Admin PINs for managed deployments. PIN entry is performed on the device keypad before connection, preventing hardware and software key-logging and enabling compatibility across Windows, Mac, Linux and embedded systems without installing software or requiring admin rights. Additional security features include a programmable brute-force defense that erases the encryption key after repeated incorrect PIN attempts, drive reset that destroys data and generates a new encryption key, sealed internal components with epoxy, and a wear-resistant keypad. The drive is dust- and water-resistant (IP58 pending) with a rugged aluminum housing and offers USB 3.2 Gen 1 performance with read speeds up to 195 MB/s and write speeds up to 162 MB/s.
Set up the device without software by following the on-device prompts using the onboard keypad to create User and Admin PINs (7–16 digits or alphanumeric). Unlock the drive by entering the PIN on the keypad before inserting into the computer or device USB port; the drive will then enumerate as a standard USB mass storage device. To administrate or recover access, use the Admin PIN to clear a forgotten User PIN. To securely sanitize and reuse the drive, perform the drive reset which destroys stored data and generates a new encryption key.
Use a memorable but non-obvious PIN and store the Admin PIN separately from the device. Regularly back up important encrypted data to a secure location before performing drive reset or relying on brute-force defense behavior. Verify device operation after exposure to dust or water per IP58 testing procedures.
