Heatsink Aqua-Computer kryoM.2 — aluminium/stainless steel, 70×24×9 mm
Aqua-Computer kryoM.2 is a compact passive heatsink designed specifically for single-sided M.2 NVMe/2280 SSDs. Constructed from aluminium with stainless steel mounting clips, the kryoM.2 measures 70 × 24 × 9 mm and is available in natural aluminium or black anodized finish. It includes a high-performance thermal pad and a self-adhesive protective foil for electrical insulation of the clips, enabling reliable passive heat dissipation in desktop and compact PC builds without introducing mechanical stress to the SSD.
The kryoM.2 combines a lightweight aluminium body with stainless steel clips to provide stable thermal contact and durable mounting. The supplied thermal pad ensures efficient heat transfer from the SSD to the heatsink surface while the protective foil isolates the clips electrically. Its compact dimensions and low profile make it compatible with most motherboards and small form factor systems, offering measurable temperature reduction for M.2 drives without requiring active cooling or additional power.
Remove the protective foil from the thermal pad and place the pad onto the SSD contact surface according to the pad size. Attach the aluminium heatsink over the thermal pad, align it with the SSD, and slide the stainless steel clips in from the sides until they clamp securely onto the edges of the heatsink. Ensure the self-adhesive protective foil is applied where clips might contact electrical components to provide insulation. After installation, reinsert the M.2 SSD into the motherboard slot and secure it per the motherboard manufacturer’s instructions. No additional tools are required beyond those used to access the M.2 slot.
For best thermal performance ensure the thermal pad is applied evenly and the heatsink surface is in full contact with the pad. Use the kryoM.2 in systems with adequate airflow when possible, and verify clearance around neighboring components before installation. The passive design is adequate for most consumer and office workloads; for sustained high-load server or workstation scenarios, consider active cooling or monitoring SSD temperatures during heavy use.
