AQUA DELLA aquarium gravel Gravel Dark Fine 1–3 mm, 10 kg
AQUA DELLA aquarium gravel Gravel Dark Fine 1–3 mm, 10 kg is a dark-colored substrate material designed for freshwater aquaria. The fine grain size of 1–3 mm creates a uniform bed that supports plant rooting, stabilizes decorations and allows water flow for biological filtration. Packaged in a 10 kg bag, this gravel is intended for aquascaping, substrate layering and improving visual contrast for fish and invertebrates against a darker foreground.
The fine 1–3 mm grain produces a stable, even surface that reduces channeling and helps plant roots anchor securely. Dark coloration enhances the appearance of fish and plants by providing strong contrast while minimizing glare. The gravel is compatible with common aquarium filters and allows water to circulate through the substrate to support beneficial bacteria. Supplied in a 10 kg quantity, it is appropriate for creating continuous substrate layers in small to medium tanks or for targeted areas in larger aquaria.
Rinse the gravel thoroughly with clean water until runoff is clear to remove dust and fine particles. Distribute the gravel evenly across the aquarium bottom to a depth appropriate for plants and decorations — typically 2–4 cm for rooted plants, or deeper when creating slopes and layers. When layering with nutrient substrates, place the nutrient layer first and cover with a thin layer of this fine gravel to prevent mixing. Position plants and hardscape elements, then fill the tank slowly to avoid disturbing the substrate.
For best results use in combination with a nutrient-rich base layer if cultivating demanding aquatic plants. Regular vacuuming of the top layer during water changes helps remove accumulated detritus without excessively disturbing roots. Avoid using in marine or reef aquaria; intended for freshwater installations only.
