Aquarium gravel AQUA DELLA Gravel Black 1–3 mm, black, 9 kg
Aquarium gravel AQUA DELLA Gravel Black 1–3 mm, black, 9 kg
AQUA DELLA Gravel Black 1–3 mm, black, 9 kg is a natural-looking aquarium substrate offered in a single 9 kg bag with uniformly sized grains. Designed for both freshwater and marine aquariums, the 1–3 mm grain size creates a compact yet porous layer suitable for planted tanks, fish habitats and terrariums. The black color provides contrast that highlights fish colors and plant foliage while serving as a base for biological filtration and root anchoring.
The fine 1–3 mm grain size balances compaction and water flow: it allows beneficial bacteria to colonize while maintaining enough porosity for circulation. The black finish reduces light reflection from the bottom, improving visual contrast and reducing stress for some fish species. Supplied in a 9 kg bag, the gravel is ready to rinse and use, offering an economical option for hobbyists setting up small to medium aquariums or terrariums.
This gravel is not enriched with nutrients or fertilizers and therefore does not replace specialized plant substrates for heavy root feeders. Its uniform 1–3 mm grain size may compact more than coarser substrates in deep layers, so avoid overly deep beds without layering with coarser material for improved circulation. For very delicate bottom-dwelling species that require ultra-fine sand, this gravel may be too coarse.
Before introduction to the aquarium, rinse the gravel thoroughly under running water until the discharge runs clear to remove dust and fines. Spread an even layer across the aquarium bottom, typically 2–4 cm for standard planted setups; increase depth in areas where larger plant root systems require anchoring. Combine with nutrient-rich substrate layers or root tabs if cultivating heavy-rooting plants. Monitor initial turbidity in the water and perform water changes after installation if necessary.
Rinse well before use, lay in an even layer 2–4 cm deep for general planted tanks, and supplement with root fertilizer or a nutrient layer for heavy-rooting plants. Avoid very deep compacted beds without aerobic channels or coarser layers to maintain healthy substrate circulation.
