Aquarium Gravel AQUA DELLA Gravel Quartz Grey 2–3 mm, 2 kg
AQUA DELLA Gravel Quartz Grey 2–3 mm, 2 kg is a neutral grey aquarium gravel designed as a stable and permeable substrate for freshwater and marine tanks. With a uniform grain size of 2–3 mm and a 2 kg package, this gravel supports plant roots, secures décor and allows water flow through the substrate to aid biological filtration. The material is suitable for planted aquaria, fish-only systems and terrariums where a discreet, natural-looking base is required.
The neutral grey colour provides a subdued background that highlights fish and plants without altering water chemistry. Grain size 2–3 mm offers a balance between stability for roots and porosity for water movement and beneficial bacteria colonisation. The 2 kg pack is convenient for small tanks, sample use or topping up existing substrate, and the gravel is durable and easy to rinse before use.
Rinse the gravel thoroughly under running water until the rinse water runs clear to remove dust and fines. Add an even layer of gravel to the aquarium bottom; for planted tanks, a depth of 4–6 cm is recommended to stabilise roots, while fish-only setups may use a shallower layer. Arrange décor and plants as desired, taking care not to create compacted zones that restrict water exchange in the substrate. Monitor water parameters after initial setup and during the first weeks to ensure no cloudiness or particulate disturbance.
Before use, inspect and rinse the gravel. Combine with nutrient-rich root tabs or a dedicated plant substrate if intensive planting is planned. For marine reef tanks that require live sand or specialized substrates for biological processes, use this gravel as an accent layer or in non-critical areas. Perform regular vacuuming of the top substrate layer during maintenance to remove detritus while preserving beneficial bacteria deeper in the bed.
