AQUA DELLA aquarium gravel Quartz Grey 2–3 mm 10 kg
AQUA DELLA aquarium gravel Quartz Grey 2–3 mm 10 kg is a natural-looking substrate intended for use in freshwater and marine aquariums. The fine 2–3 mm grain size creates a stable base layer that supports plant rooting, decorative arrangements and allows water circulation through the substrate to assist biological filtration. Supplied in a 10 kg bag, this grey quartz gravel provides a neutral, consistent color that complements planted tanks, community setups and various aquascape styles.
The quartz composition offers inert, chemically stable gravel that will not significantly alter water parameters in properly cycled systems. The 2–3 mm grain ensures good water flow between particles while providing anchorage for plant roots and stability for decorations. A neutral grey colour reduces visual distraction, highlighting plants and fish without introducing artificial tones. The 10 kg packaging makes it suitable for small to medium aquaria or for topping an existing substrate.
This quartz gravel is inert and does not supply nutrients to plants, so it is not a complete substrate solution for heavily planted tanks that require root fertilization or nutrient-rich layers. For very small fry or bottom-dwelling species that prefer finer sand, the 2–3 mm grain size may be too coarse. Also avoid use in setups where substrate chemistry must actively buffer pH or hardness.
Rinse gravel thoroughly under running water until the runoff is clear to remove dust and fines. Add a 2–5 cm layer for decorative tanks or 4–8 cm for planted aquaria, adjusting depth according to plant root requirements and aquarium size. Place heavier pieces of décor and plants after laying the substrate to avoid disturbing the layer, and arrange slopes or contours as needed for aquascaping. After filling the aquarium with water, monitor turbidity and allow mechanical filtration to clear residual particles.
Rinse before use, use in layers appropriate for planting, and combine with root fertilisers or nutrient substrates when keeping demanding plants. For reduced cloudiness, pour water gently when filling and use a pre-filter or mechanical filtration until water is clear.
