The ARCO PTFE thread seal tape is a professional-grade sealing solution engineered for reliable performance in plumbing and industrial pipe connections. With a width of 19mm, a thickness of 0.075mm, and a total length of 12 meters, this tape provides a consistent and durable barrier for various threaded joints. It is designed to withstand demanding environments, ensuring that connections remain secure and leak-proof over time.
Advantages
This PTFE tape offers exceptional chemical resistance and stability across a wide range of temperatures, making it a versatile choice for diverse piping systems. Its high-quality material composition ensures that it does not degrade easily, providing a long-lasting seal that prevents fluid or gas leakage. The tape is easy to apply and conforms well to threads, reducing the risk of cross-threading and ensuring a tight fit for both metal and plastic fittings.
Suitable for
- Water supply and distribution systems
- Gas piping installations
- Heating and cooling system connections
- Industrial pipe maintenance and repair
When it may not be suitable
This tape is not intended for use on high-pressure hydraulic systems or applications involving highly corrosive acids that exceed the chemical resistance limits of PTFE. It should also not be used as a substitute for structural adhesives or mechanical fasteners.
Key specifications
- Width: 19 mm
- Thickness: 0.075 mm
- Length: 12 m
- Material: PTFE
- Adhesive: Yes
How to use
To apply the tape, ensure the threads of the pipe are clean and dry. Start at the end of the pipe and wrap the tape around the threads in the direction of the thread spiral. Maintain tension while wrapping to ensure the tape conforms to the thread profile. Typically, three to four wraps are sufficient for a secure seal. Once applied, screw the fitting onto the pipe, ensuring it is tightened appropriately to compress the tape into the threads.
What to consider before purchase
- Verify the thread size and type to ensure compatibility with the 19mm width.
- Check the temperature and pressure requirements of your specific installation.
- Ensure the pipe threads are free from debris or old sealant before application.
Usage recommendations
For optimal results, avoid over-wrapping the threads, as excessive tape can make it difficult to engage the fitting and may cause the threads to strip. Always wrap in the direction of the thread to prevent the tape from unraveling during assembly.
