Tower NAS Areca ARC-8050T3U-8 Storage Server ROC 2GB DDR3 Black
The Areca ARC-8050T3U-8 Tower NAS is a Thunderbolt 3-enabled storage server featuring a ROC 1.2 GHz processor and 2 GB DDR3 memory. It provides dual Thunderbolt 3 host ports plus an additional Thunderbolt 3 port for daisy-chaining peripherals, a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 output for external displays, controller-based hardware encryption and support for self-encrypting drives (SED). Designed for high-performance storage and flexible management, the ARC-8050T3U-8 supports in-band (Thunderbolt) and out-of-band (Gigabit Ethernet) management, an LCD status panel, and battery-backed cache for data integrity.
The ARC-8050T3U-8 offers up to 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 connectivity for fast data transfers and the ability to daisy-chain multiple devices, reducing cable clutter and enabling large video storage arrays on a single host connection. Its controller-based encryption and SED support protect data on drives without affecting RAID performance. Multiple management options — web browser-based McRAID, ArcSAP quick manager, in-band ArcHTTP proxy and an out-of-band RJ-45 port — provide flexible remote and local administration. Additional features include a front LCD for quick monitoring, hardware power on/off controls synchronized with the host, and an integrated battery backup unit to preserve cached data during power loss.
Connect the ARC-8050T3U-8 to a Thunderbolt 3-enabled host using a Thunderbolt 3 cable to enable full 40 Gbps operation and, if needed, daisy-chain further Thunderbolt devices to the additional port. If connected to a USB-C or USB-only port, the unit will operate as a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 device. Configure RAID arrays, encryption, and system settings using the LCD panel, the McRAID web interface via in-band ArcHTTP proxy, or through the out-of-band Ethernet management port. For macOS systems with legacy Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 ports, use Apple’s Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter (sold separately) following Apple’s compatibility guidance.
Use a proper shutdown sequence for both host and ARC-8050T3U-8 to avoid data loss; prefer shutdown via the host OS or controller interface rather than holding the power button. Keep firmware and management utilities updated, use SEDs or controller encryption to protect sensitive data, and ensure the BBU is maintained according to the manufacturer’s schedule to protect cached writes during power outages.
