Paint marker Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 Marker — Magic Blue (model 2028030)

The Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 Marker — Magic Blue is a single-handed paint marker created for hobbyists and miniature painters who need rapid basecoating, fast touch-ups and controlled detailing. The marker delivers the Speedpaint 2.0 line's intent: combine convenient application with pigments formulated for miniatures, enabling quick coverage on figures, models and terrain without the need for a brush for many tasks.

Advantages

The marker offers precise application from a fine, firm tip that improves control on small surfaces and recessed areas. Its formulation provides even, opaque coverage for fast base layers and visible color with minimal passes. The integrated cap and valve system keep the paint ready for use and reduce drying inside the tip, while the portable pen form factor allows single-handed operation and easy storage in hobby kits.

Suitable for

• Rapid basecoating of miniature figures and model parts
• Touch-ups and spot corrections during assembly or painting
• Applying color to terrain pieces, bases and scenic elements
• Controlled detailing where a marker tip gives better precision than a brush

When it may not be suitable

The marker is not a complete replacement for traditional brushes when it comes to very fine glazing, feathered blends or advanced wet-on-wet techniques that require brush control. For extremely large surfaces or full-model priming, an airbrush or spray primer may be faster and more economical.

Key specifications

• Form: paint marker with a firm tip designed for miniature work
• Color family: blue (Magic Blue tone intended for base and layering)
• Application: single-handed pen-style dispensing for fast coverage and detailing
• Finish: opaque, suitable for subsequent layering and highlighting
• Packaging: portable cap and valve system to reduce drying and enable storage in hobby kits

How to use

Shake the marker well before use, then depress the tip on scrap material until the paint flows and the tip is saturated. Apply the paint with controlled strokes, working from larger base areas toward finer details. Allow the marker coat to fully dry before applying additional layers, highlights or washes. Clean the tip by wiping on a paper towel after use and replace the cap securely to prevent drying.

What to consider before purchase

• Assess whether marker-style application suits the level of detail and techniques you plan to use
• Consider color matching with your existing paint range for layering and highlights
• Decide if the marker volume and replacement frequency fit your project size

Usage recommendations

Use the Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 Marker — Magic Blue for fast, controlled basecoats and targeted touch-ups; follow with thin layers, highlights and washes using brushes or other Speedpaint products to build depth and contrast.
