Asta Teflon Tape A-TT12M is a thin PTFE sealing tape supplied in a pack of 10 rolls. Each roll measures 10 m in length, 12 mm in width and 0.1 mm in thickness, designed for wrapping pipe threads and fittings to create a reliable leak-resistant seal. The tape provides a low-friction, chemically inert film that helps improve thread fit, resist corrosion and simplify assembly and disassembly of threaded connections in plumbing, heating and gas systems.
The tape delivers a uniform, thin PTFE layer that fills minor thread imperfections without adding significant bulk, enabling tight connections and reduced risk of leakage. Its chemically inert and moisture-resistant properties provide corrosion protection for metal threads and maintain sealing performance over time. The thin profile and good conformability make it easy to apply on straight and tapered threads while allowing components to be tightened to design torque.
Ensure threads are clean and dry before application. Start the tape on the thread end and wrap clockwise (in the direction of tightening) with moderate tension, overlapping by approximately half the tape width on each turn to cover the threads evenly. Apply 2–5 wraps depending on thread size and taper; avoid overbuilding that could prevent proper engagement. Trim the tape and tighten the joint to the required torque. For disassembly, the tape can be removed by unscrewing and wiping residue from threads.
Confirm suitability for gas installations with local codes and standards before use. Store rolls in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and sharp objects. Use appropriate personal protective equipment if working in confined spaces or with pressurized systems. For best sealing results, combine correct tape application with proper thread condition and recommended tightening procedures.
