Product information

Description

The Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WIFI is a workstation motherboard designed for professional content creation, software development, machine learning and other demanding applications. It supports AMD Ryzen Threadripper™ PRO 7000 WX-series and AMD Ryzen Threadripper™ 7000 series processors with up to 96 cores and provides support for up to 1 TB of R-DIMM DDR5 memory. The board includes onboard PCIe power connectors, active VRM cooling with heat pipes, WiFi 7, a USB 20 Gbps port, SlimSAS and IPMI support to meet a range of professional and industrial requirements.

Advantages

The motherboard delivers robust power delivery with thirty-six power stages and a dual-PSU friendly design for improved overclocking stability. ECC R-DIMM memory support and advanced cooling ensure higher system reliability and reduced risk of data corruption. Multiple PCIe 5.0/4.0 x16 slots, three M.2 slots (two PCIe 5.0 and one PCIe 4.0), SlimSAS, and onboard PCIe power connectors enable flexible multi-GPU and high-speed storage configurations. Integrated networking includes WiFi 7, dual-band transceivers, Marvell AQtion 10 Gb Ethernet and Intel 2.5 Gb Ethernet for high-throughput wired and wireless connectivity.

Key specifications

  • CPU support: AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX-series and Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series (up to 96 cores)
  • Memory: 4x R-DIMM DDR5 slots with ECC support, up to 1 TB
  • Power delivery: 36 power stages; ProCool II 12V CPU connectors; dual-PSU compatible design
  • Expansion slots: Multiple PCIe 5.0/4.0 x16 slots for multi-GPU setups
  • Storage: 3x M.2 slots (2x PCIe 5.0, 1x PCIe 4.0) with heatsinks; SlimSAS port
  • Networking: WiFi 7 with dual transceivers (2.4/5/6 GHz) and Q-Antenna; Marvell AQtion 10 Gb Ethernet; Intel 2.5 Gb Ethernet
  • USB: USB4 via onboard header (up to 40 Gbps with expansion card); USB 20 Gbps port
  • Management: IPMI support via ASUS IPMI expansion card; ASUS Control Center Express compatibility
  • Cooling and reliability: Active VRM cooling with heat pipes, M.2 heatsinks and thermal pads; rated for 24/7 operation up to 45°C and 80% humidity

How to use

Install a compatible AMD Threadripper or Threadripper PRO processor into the TRX50 socket and populate the R-DIMM DDR5 memory slots according to the motherboard manual to enable ECC and, if required, EXPO settings for memory tuning. Connect the ProCool II 12V CPU power connectors and, if using heavy multi-GPU configurations, attach the onboard 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connectors to ensure stable power delivery. For high-speed storage, install NVMe drives into the M.2 PCIe 5.0/4.0 slots and secure them with the Q-Latch mechanism; use SlimSAS for compatible industrial SSDs or server connections. To enable remote management, fit the ASUS IPMI expansion card and connect it to the dedicated Ethernet-to-BMC interface. For network setup, attach the Q-Antenna and configure WiFi 7 or wired Ethernet interfaces as required. Follow the motherboard manual for BIOS options, overclocking switches and safe installation practices.

Recommendations

For systems requiring maximum stability and data integrity, use ECC R-DIMM modules and consider configuring RAID across NVMe drives for high I/O workloads. Ensure adequate case airflow and use the provided VRM cooling features when overclocking; consult the motherboard manual for dual-PSU and hardware switch setup to maintain stable power delivery under heavy loads.
