The ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4 Card is an internal PCIe adapter that adds up to four NVMe M.2 drives (2242/2260/2280/22110) to a system and supports PCIe 4.0 bandwidth up to 256 Gbps per card. It is compatible with AMD TRX40 and X570 platforms for PCIe 4.0 NVMe RAID and with Intel platforms that support RAID-on-CPU, allowing unused CPU PCIe lanes to be assigned to storage and enabling bootable RAID arrays of up to four M.2 SSDs. The card includes an active cooling fan, a large heatsink and an upgraded power supply to support modern high-performance NVMe drives.
The adapter provides high aggregate bandwidth by using PCIe 4.0 lanes, delivering up to 256 Gbps per card and effectively multiplying throughput compared to a single PCIe 3.0 drive. It supports both PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 NVMe drives and is designed to supply increased power — up to 14 W per drive — to prevent throttling. Built-in active cooling and an enlarged heatsink help maintain sustained transfer speeds under heavy load.
Install the ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen 4 Card into an available PCIe x16 slot on the motherboard. Mount M.2 NVMe drives into the card’s M.2 slots (supported lengths: 2242/2260/2280/22110) and secure them according to the card’s standoff points. Connect any required power headers if specified by your motherboard or card documentation, enable RAID-on-CPU or platform RAID in BIOS/UEFI when creating a RAID array, and install necessary drivers or RAID management software as provided by the motherboard manufacturer. Ensure the card’s fan and heatsink have adequate clearance and airflow inside the case.
For sustained maximum performance, use PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs on a PCIe 4.0-capable platform (AMD TRX40/X570) and ensure sufficient case airflow. When configuring RAID, follow your motherboard vendor’s instructions for RAID-on-CPU or platform RAID to ensure bootability and driver compatibility.
