The Axagon ADSA-1S6 is a compact USB 3.0 to SATA 6G adapter and 2.5" HDD/SSD enclosure designed for quick connection of a laptop disk or SATA SSD. It supports UASP and TRIM, provides S.M.A.R.T. monitoring and allows booting from a drive connected via USB. The enclosure is lightweight and includes a protective plastic case and accessories for both 7 mm and 9.5 mm drives.

Advantages

Supports USB 3.0 transfer rates up to the interface limit with backward compatibility to USB 2.0, UASP support for improved performance with queued small-file transfers, and TRIM support to reduce SSD performance degradation. The adapter reads S.M.A.R.T. data, supports HDD auto spindown and turn-off, hot-plug and full plug-and-play operation, and supplies power from a single USB port. The compact dimensions and included carrying case make it suitable for mobile use.

How to use

Insert the 2.5" SATA drive into the adapter, place the assembly into the supplied plastic case if desired, connect the USB cable to the adapter and then to a computer USB port. The device is plug-and-play: the operating system installs required drivers automatically. For hot-plug use, connect or disconnect the adapter while the system is running; when not accessing the drive the adapter will spin down the disk automatically according to the timeout.

Usage recommendations

For stable power delivery use a single USB 3.0 port that can supply up to 900 mA. Use the included foam pads with 7 mm drives to ensure a secure fit inside the case and store the adapter and cable in the case when transporting.
