The Axagon EEM2-SG2 Grey M.2 is a universal external SSD enclosure for one M.2 drive, offering USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s) connectivity via a reversible USB-C connector. The compact aluminium housing in titanium grey with a brushed finish includes a USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-A to USB-C adapter, allowing connection to a wide range of computers, notebooks, tablets and phones. The enclosure supports both NVMe and SATA M.2 drives, accepts single- and double-sided modules in lengths 42, 60 and 80 mm, and provides S.M.A.R.T. reporting, UASP and TRIM support plus standby when idle.

Advantages

The enclosure combines a fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface with a chipset that works with both NVMe and SATA M.2 SSDs, eliminating the need to check the drive type. Screwless opening enables quick tool-free installation and replacement of SSDs. How to use

Open the screwless enclosure, insert a compatible M.2 SSD (single- or double-sided) of length 42, 60 or 80 mm and secure it according to the internal mounting slot. Connect the enclosure to a host device using the supplied USB-C to USB-A cable or directly with a USB-C port; use the included USB-A to USB-C adapter if needed. The host system will detect the drive as an external storage device. For NVMe drives, ensure the operating system and drivers support NVMe over USB to achieve maximum performance.

Usage recommendations

For best results, use a USB 3.2 Gen 2 or equivalent USB-C port and enable UASP and TRIM in the host system when supported. Allow airflow around the aluminium enclosure and avoid prolonged heavy workloads without breaks to minimize temperature build-up and potential thermal throttling.
