Description

AXAGON EEM2-UG2 is a compact external SSD enclosure for NVMe (PCI-Express) M.2 drives in sizes up to 22x80 mm (2242, 2260, 2280). The enclosure uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (SuperSpeed+) Type-C connection and supports UASP and TRIM. Its aluminium body and included thermal pads improve heat dissipation, allowing use with computers, laptops and OTG-capable mobile devices.

Advantages

The enclosure provides SuperSpeed+ connectivity with theoretical transfer rates up to 10 Gbit/s via USB 3.2 Gen 2 and practical throughput around 1000 MB/s depending on host limits. It supports M-key and B+M-key NVMe M.2 SSDs, one- and double-sided modules, SSD boot from the external box, hot-plug and full plug-and-play operation. The aluminium housing and thermal pads enhance cooling, and a blue LED indicates power and activity. A 22 cm USB-C to USB-C cable, mounting kit, screwdriver and thermal pads are included.

How to use

Open the enclosure, place the NVMe M.2 SSD into the M-key (75-pin) slot and secure it with the provided screws and mounting material. Apply the supplied thermal pads to the SSD as shown in the manual, close the enclosure and connect it to the host using the included USB Type-C cable. The device supports hot-plugging and is recognized as a USB mass storage device; drivers are generally provided by the operating system. For optimal transfer performance enable UASP where supported and ensure the host USB port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2.

Usage recommendations

Use the enclosure on hosts with USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports for best performance. Ensure the SSD firmware and the host OS support TRIM and NVMe boot if you plan to use the drive as an external boot device. Allow airflow around the aluminium body during sustained transfers to help dissipate heat.
