Effects processor Behringer SU9920 000-48701-00010
The Behringer SU9920 is a professional effects and signal enhancement processor that adds clarity, depth and presence to audio signals. Using a dynamic filter and a 3-band phase delay algorithm, the SU9920 improves midrange articulation, enhances high-frequency sparkle and tightens low-end response without introducing unnatural artifacts. The unit offers two independent channels, allowing either stereo processing or dual-mono operation for separately treated instruments or vocal and instrument paths. Designed for studio mastering, live sound reinforcement, PA systems, DJ rigs and hi‑fi or surround setups, the SU9920 focuses on practical sonic improvements using simple controls.
The SU9920 provides audible enhancement through two dedicated controls per channel — Process and Low Contour — which compensate phase and amplitude differences across frequency ranges. This results in improved intelligibility, increased presence and more defined bass. With a maximum boost of approximately +12 dBu at targeted frequencies, the processor delivers noticeable improvements with minimal adjustment and without adding unwanted coloration. Its dual-channel design supports flexible routing for stereo mixes or two independent mono sources.
Connect the SU9920 inline with your signal path or in an amplifier effects loop, assigning left and right or two separate mono sources to the two channels as needed. Use the Process control to increase high-frequency presence and clarity, and the Low Contour control to reinforce low-frequency punch. Adjust each control while listening to the full mix or soloed channel until the desired balance of articulation, sparkle and bass tightness is achieved. Because the unit is purpose-built for easy operation, small adjustments often produce substantial improvements.
For mastering or final-stage processing, apply subtle Process and Low Contour settings to avoid over-enhancement; in live sound, start with conservative boosts and increase until speech or instruments are clearly projected to the audience without feedback. When processing individual instruments, set each channel independently to match the instrument’s role: moderate Low Contour for bass sources and milder High Process for vocals and keyboards.
