The Bixolon XD5-40d is a 4-inch (118 mm) direct thermal desktop label and barcode printer with 203 dpi resolution and a maximum print speed of 178 mm/s (7 ips). It has a compact clamshell design, expanded memory (up to 256 MB SDRAM and 256 MB Flash) and supports a media roll diameter up to 127 mm. The printer accepts gap, black mark, continuous and notch media using Smart Media Detection™ and includes standard dual USB2.0 plus USB Host connectivity, with optional interfaces such as Dual-WLAN, Dual-Bluetooth, Serial or Ethernet. The XD5-40d is compatible with common printer languages (SLCS™, BPL-Z™, BPL-E™) and works with label design tools including BIXOLON Label Artist-II™ and BarTender®.

How to use

Load the thermal label roll into the clamshell mechanism, adjust the paper guide and close the lid. Configure media type or allow Smart Media Detection™ to auto-detect gap, black mark, continuous or notch formats. Connect the printer via USB or an available optional interface, install the appropriate driver or label design software (for example BIXOLON Label Artist-II™ or BarTender®), and send print jobs from your host system. Use the USB Host port for duplicating settings to another XD5 series printer when required.
