The Bixolon XD5-40d is a 4-inch (118 mm) direct thermal desktop label and barcode printer designed for mid-level labelling needs in manufacturing, transport and logistics, retail and healthcare. The compact clamshell design includes up to 256 MB SDRAM and 256 MB Flash memory, supports a maximum print width of 108 mm and delivers print speeds up to 178 mm/sec (7 ips) at 203 x 203 DPI. The model supports field-installable accessories such as a peeler, auto cutter and external paper supply, and accepts media rolls up to 127 mm diameter. Smart Media Detection™ automatically recognises gap, black mark, continuous or notch media formats. The unit ships with a standard 2-year warranty.

Open the clamshell housing to load label media and set the adjustable paper guide and holder for the required roll width. Select the correct media type so Smart Media Detection™ can identify gap, black mark, continuous or notch formats. Connect the printer to a host using the USB 2.0 port or an optional network interface, install the appropriate drivers and configure print settings via BIXOLON software or supported programming language. For multi-device deployment, use the USB host Twin Function™ to duplicate settings and data to other printers.
